The Inspiration Behind  The Online Dance Conditioning Program

I developed my routines based off of the dance training I've received for over 10 years (primarily Vaganova style ballet) and combined it with my individual research of breaking down movements into the anatomical structures needed to complete them.

This individual research came when I struggled to catch up to my peers as a result of starting dance late at the age of 10. With this knowledge, I've curated  exercise routines that strengthen or stretch specific muscle groups needed to master certain skills. I've also put a strong emphasis on developing a strong mindset to keep dancers SELF-motivated. I'm proud to say that I created a program that I truly wished I had when I was struggling as a young student.

Online Success

I started with posting small informational videos on TikTok and they were very well received! So many dancers had improved or conquered some of their challenges as a result of my instruction. Over hundreds of thousands of views later and with several dancers asking me to create online classes, this program became the result! To this day across all of my online content, I have received 1.2 million views and counting!

In-person Success

I have been instructing students all over the country for the past 5 years. It started in college when I was responsible for blending a team of dancers with a variety of different backgrounds and technical experience.

From there I began teaching dance conditioning at clinics and summer programs for high school students.

We Provide Supplemental Training

This does not and should not replace your dance training, however, in order to bring your student's dance ability to another level, work must be done outside the classroom. We've created a program that neatly packages everything your students need to become a strong and well-rounded dancer!

Ballet Training

For 8 years I trained primarily in the Vaganova style of ballet starting late at the age of 10. I've had the pleasure of training at The Kirov Academy of Ballet in their Prepatory Program, The OH Ballet Arts Academy, The Washington Ballet School and many summer intensives such as the Joffrey Ballet School, Dance Theatre of Harlem, and Akhmedova Ballet Academy.

HBCU Majorette Dance

For 4 years after, I was a member of Ebony Fire, the HBCU majorette dance team at Hampton University and was the Captain for 2 years. The style of this team in particular was highly technical, acrobatic, and high energy which challenged and improved me tremendously as a dancer both physically and mentally.

How We Want Students To Work!

................

Each month is a BUILD ON so we prefer they start from the very first video (experienced dancer or beginner). DO NOT SKIP. This defeats the purpose.

Consistency in working on the basics will help dancers MASTER the skills they've been struggling with.

All previous videos will be available to your dancers so they can work at their own pace/take class as many times as they need at home.

Our Easy Class Structure

................

Our video routines consist of the following sections:

Warm-up and Meditation

...............

We build safe habits here! Each routine begins with a quick warm-up to prevent injuries and a guided mediation to get you in the right mindset!

General Maintenance

................

The second part of every video includes a general stretch and strengthen routine for the month to develop nice lines, turnout, and feet. This is also designed to maintain general flexibility and core strength.

Targeted Exercises

...............

The last part of the routine is focused on exercises that will build the strength and flexibility required for the specific skillset of focus for the month (turns, extensions, jumps, etc.). Each week has a slightly altered routine to build up to executing the movements.

We Have A Curriculum

As stated earlier, each month focuses on developing a particular skill. The dancer should put all of their focus and energy into developing and mastering ONE skill at a time.

Although tempting, if dancers try and work on everything at once, their focus and energy will get scattered and improvement won't be as drastic.

By being patient and tackling one thing at a time, eventually after completing the program they will have transformed into a completely new dancer that is SOLID.

Mentality: How To Make It Happen

Most programs only focus on the physical aspects, but neglect to work on building the belief and confidence of the dancer. Everything starts with the mind. If your student doesn't believe in themself, they could have the best teacher/coach in the world yet they will still struggle with staying consistent and being disciplined in working on skills that challenge them.

From personal experience, even though I've always had a strong work ethic, it wasn't until I changed my perspective that I started improving rapidly in my training.

Why This Is Important!

It's quite simple, if the concept that you currently have of yourself is that you're terrible, hate going to the front of class, you're embarrassing to look at, and all the other lies you tell yourself...you will keep acting as that person.

However, if you work to correct this and change your self-concept into a dancer that's confident and amazing, you will start acting like one. Trying to maintain all of the habits of an amazing dancer (staying consistent, not being afraid to work on what you're bad at, etc.) while you still act and believe that you're terrible, would be and is extremely difficult.

That's the reason why you start routines and then give up on them after 3 days. THERE CAN BE NO PHYSICAL CHANGE IF THERE IS NOT A MENTAL CHANGE FIRST!

Changing The Dancer's Self-Concept

................

The ODC program incorporates different tools specially designed to help change the dancer's "Self-Concept". These are made to convince yourself into believing you already are amazing even before you see results. When you lead with belief, staying consistent becomes easy. Working on things that you struggle with become a fun challenge. It's all about perspective.

Guided Meditations

...............

These are separate from the meditations you get in each class. The mediations include visualizations and plenty of positive affirmations for the listener to soak up. Dancers can listen to them before they go to bed or when they wake up early in the morning.

Self-Concept Challenges

................

Each month, dancers are tasked with completing small daily challenges (3-5 min each) throughout the day to remind themselves of the dancer they want to be. These were created to combat negative self-talk that can occur throughout the day.
